Frequently asked.
Everything you might want to know before you start a conversation with history.
What is Ravecho?
Ravecho is an AI voice platform where you have natural conversations with historical figures, fictional characters, and the people you love. Hear Abraham Lincoln describe the Civil War, ask Einstein about relativity, or preserve the voice of a family member for future generations.
Is it free to use?
Yes. Ravecho is free to try with no credit card required. Paid plans unlock more daily conversations, longer chats, premium voices, and family voice cloning.
How realistic are the voices?
Voices are generated using state-of-the-art AI voice synthesis. For historical figures, the voice is a carefully matched proxy (we cannot record someone who lived in the 1800s). For family voices, our cloning model captures the tone and cadence of a real person from a short recording.
How do family voices and GEDCOM import work?
Add any family member as a custom character (alive or passed) with a short biography, photo, and an optional voice sample. You can also import a GEDCOM file from Ancestry, FamilySearch, MyHeritage, or any other genealogy program, and Ravecho will pull through names, birth and death dates, and relationships from your family tree automatically. Family voices are private to your account.
What about voice cloning?
Upload a 10 to 30 second clip of clear speech (an old voicemail, a home video, a recorded interview, or a fresh recording) and our voice cloning model will generate a synthesised voice that captures the tone and cadence. Only upload voices of yourself, deceased loved ones, or people who have given you consent. Never strangers, celebrities, or public figures without permission.
Is Ravecho useful for study or teaching?
Yes. Many users use Ravecho to deepen their understanding of historical figures, literary characters, and scientific minds. Talking to a primary subject is a powerful way to learn, but always cross-reference with verified sources for academic work.
Are the responses historically accurate?
AI portrayals are plausible interpretations built from public sources such as Wikipedia, recorded interviews, biographies, and other documented material. They are not perfect historical reconstructions and may occasionally make mistakes. Treat conversations as a creative and educational starting point, not a primary historical source.
What languages does it support?
Conversations work in many major languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Mandarin, Japanese, and more. The user interface is currently English-only.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your conversations are stored privately under your account and we never sell your data or use it to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.
How do I cancel? Are refunds available?
You can cancel anytime from the in-app billing portal. Your subscription continues until the end of the current paid period, then stops. We don't offer refunds for partial billing periods except where required by the Australian Consumer Law. See our Terms of Service for full detail.
